Take a look at the Grade 4 shadow plays.  Students created their own version of  story by using ideas from well known Fairy Tales, such as, “The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf,” “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” and “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”   Students also used musical instruments to introduce each of their shadow puppets for dramatic effect.   To help them understand this concept, students learned about, “Peter and the Wolf,” which is unique as the story is narrated by incorporating musical instruments to identify each character in the story.  Students created the shadow puppet play as this unit is covered  in, “The Light and Shadows,” unit.

Excellent work, Grade 4 students! Your shadow plays were well-written and creative. I like how you based your play on a well-known fairy tale, but changed the characters in the story, but still managed to follow the fairy tale storyline. Each group utilized the instruments well and each instrument related to the characters. Using the instruments enhanced the dramatic effect, just like we learned about, “Peter and the Wolf.” Each group spoke their lines clearly, with expression, and accurately. The audience thought all of the groups did a fantastic job performing in the gym!

Children are very creative and presentation skills is amazing
