Dear Veteran,

Thank you for fighting for country. Thank you for keeping our country safe so we do not get hurt from enemies. Thank you for helping others gain freedom and saving other people. Thank you for all the soldiers who fought in war like the one who spoke at our school for the Remembrance Day Assembly. Thank you for letting us feel safe when we go to school.  Not like some students who have to go school when guns, bombs, and tanks are going off.  Thank you for your service and fighting in war so we can be safe. Thank you for the day of remembrance that we can think of our blessings and that we can think of what the soldiers have gone through at war.

We watched a clip called, “A Poppy Is To Remember.” It showed us how scary it must be to fight in a war. We learned that the Peace Tower, in Ontario had fifty three bells in different sizes. There is a Book of Remembrance in the Peace Tower. Every year they would turn the page in the book to remember all the soldiers who fought in war. We learned that sometimes they fight for land. We learned about John McCrae.  He was born in Guelph, Ontario. He also wrote a poem after his friend died in the war in Flanders Fields.

We are making a clay poppy picture for Remembrance Day. We sang, “A Wish For Peace,” for Remembrance Day. We are typing a letter about Remembrance Day.  We had a Remembrance Day Assembly on Tuesday November 10th . We sang O’Canada at the assembly.  There was a veteran named Mr. Eichelbaum.  He started fighting when he was 23 years old. I enjoyed the 2 minutes of silence to remember the fallen soliders and we watched a short video about the soldiers.

                                                                Yours Truly,

                                                                   Abram

Nice work on your post, Abram! I can you understand the importance of paying your respects to the soldiers on Remembrance Day. You explained what you learned about Remembrance Day well such as the Peace Tower, Book of Remembrance, and John McCrae. However, there were times your sentences were short and choppy such as: We sang O’ Canada, and we are typing a letter about Remembrance Day. This is where you need to expand on your ideas by showing what you learned. Nice selection of Remembrance Day pictures and your font colour. Your clay poppy picture turned out nicely! Keep working hard, Abram! 🙂
