Today was the best day because we Skyped with Bird Studies Canada in Ontario. They banded a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. It had red spot on it’s head. It weighs 7 grams and is the size of loonie. They also had a Fox Sparrow. The Fox Sparrow had black dots on its back. It is furry like a fox. The Saw-Whet Owl was grey and brown . It has a heart shaped face. The biologists caught four birds. The Yellow Rumped Warbler has a yellow spot on its tail. They are called , Ruby Crowned Kinglet, Fox Sparrow, Yellow Rumped Warbler , and Saw -Whet Owl. They weighed the birds with a cup. The biologists said it did not hurt the birds. My favourite part was when they banded the birds.

We Skyped with Bird Studies Canada in Ontario today. The biologists from Ontario knew many facts about birds. We learned about four different kinds of birds. The first bird was called the Ruby Crowned Kinglet . It is called the Ruby Crowned Kinglet because it had a little red crown on its head. It weighs as much as a loonie, which is 7 grams. They eat tiny insects, spiders and egg. We saw how they banded the birds. They first put the number on the band and then they put the band on their feet. They go out in the wild and catch the birds with a very soft net. When they weighed them they put them upside down in a black container, so they would not fly away. The second bird was called the Fox Sparrow. It is called the Fox Sparrow because it is really fuzzy like a fox. Their colour looks like a fox. The Fox Sparrow eats cracked corn. Corn is the best kind of food for small beaked sparrows. They also eat white and red millet, insects, and soft plant food. The third bird was called the Yellow Rumpled Warbler. It is called the Yellow Rumpled Warbler because it has a little yellow spot on its feather. They eat insects and they eat berries from shrubs. They spend most of their time in the winter in the forest. The last bird was called the Saw- Whet Owl. It looks kind of brownish. It was a baby owl. They eat mice and other small mammals like birds can be eaten. My favourite part was when they brought the owl in.

Ruby Crowned Kinglet
I had an awesome day because we got to Skype about birds. We got to see a Saw-Whet Owl. It had yellow eyes. It has a high pitched coo, coo sound. It is a tiny owl. Owls eat mice, deer, voles, young squirrels, shrews, and small birds. It has a catlike face. I really liked the Saw-Whet Owl. We saw a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. The Ruby Crowned Kinglet weighed 7 grams, which is how much a loonie weighs. It has a red head. It is the size of a loonie. It is a male and the colour is black and gray. It was funny when they weighed the birds because they put them in a container upside down, so they do not fly away. The Fox Sparrow is fuzzy like a fox. It has a tiny gray head with brown wings. It enjoys seeds and thick bill. The Yellow Rumped Warbler enjoys berries. It has yellow on its tail. When the biologists put a band on the bird they used a tong. My favourite part was seeing the Saw-Whet Owl.

Today we Skyped about birds. The first bird was a Ruby Crowned Kinglet because it had a red cap on its’ head. It only weighs as much as a loonie, that is seven grams. Another type of bird was the Fox Sparrow. It was very fuzzy like a fox. The bottom of the Fox Sparrow is white and the body is brown. The Saw-Whet Owl is all brown with white spots, tiny white cat like face and the owl can turn its head all the way around. The owls face looks like a heart. The Yellow Rumped Warbler has a yellow dot on its back and loves berries. The biologists said the birds need bracelets, which is a band to help track them in the wild. The biologists use a machine and then they turn the bird upside down and then they can weigh the bird. They also told us what the birds were called. My favourite part was when they let the birds go. My favourite bird was the Ruby Crowned Kinglet because they have a red crown on their head.

Today was an amazing day because we got to see three birds and one owl. The owl was our surprise. The Ruby Crowned Kinglet weighs as much as a loonie and eats corn. The Ruby Crowned Kinglet has a red point on its’ head. The Saw-Whet Owl was white and brown. My favourite bird was the Fox Sparrow and the Saw-Whet Owl. I enjoyed Skyping with them because it was so amazing. I liked how the biologists banded the birds because they said it did not hurt them. The did not band the Saw-Whet Owl. We learned what the birds were called. They can catch about 300 birds in one morning. I enjoyed Skyping with them. They weighed the birds and then they told us how much the birds weighed. My favourite thing was the colour of the birds.

Today was an excellent day because we learned about a lot of different types of birds. We Skyped with the Bird Studies Canada in Ontario. The first bird was called the Ruby Crowned Kinglet. We learned that it was as heavy as a loonie. It was only seven grams. There was an owl as well. The owl is called a Saw -Whet Owl. The biologists showed us how they banded the birds. They put a number on the band. They put the band on to the vice grip and then placed the band on to the bird’s leg. The man said that it did not hurt the bird. There was another bird that had a yellow spot on the back of the tail. It was called the Yellow Rumped Warbler. There was a bird that was called the Fox Sparrow because it had fuzzy feathers and it looked like a fox. The Fox Sparrow has sharp claws to help them dig. The Fox Sparrow has kind of orange and red colours. The biologists also showed us how they let the birds go. It looked kind of funny because they put the birds in backwards, so they could not fly away. They had a soft net to catch the birds. They would check every fifteen minutes to see if there was a bird in the net. They said that they did not find many owls, but they actually caught one. It looked like the owl had a bigger head then it’s body. The owl’s eyes coverd almost all of it’s head. My favourite bird was seeing the Saw – Whet Owl.

Today we Skyped with Bird Studies Canada that taught us about many different kinds of birds. The biologists live in Ontario. I am so glad that we Skyped with Bird Studies Canada! They put bands on the birds to track them. The first bird was the Ruby Crowned Kinglet. It has a red spot on its’ head. That is why it is called the Ruby Crowned Kinglet. A Ruby Crowned Kinglet is the size of a loonie. It is a good thing that they let the birds go when they are done measuring the birds. We were lucky we got to see a Saw-Whet Owl when we Skyped. The birds we saw a very beautiful creatures. We only saw four birds, but there are many birds in the world. The Fox Sparrow is very fuzzy like a fox. It is very tiny, has a grey head, and brown wings. It enjoys seeds and has a thick bill. The Yellow Rumped Warbler has a yellow and black rump and enjoys berries. I hope I will get a bird of my own some day when I grow up.

Today was an amazing day because we Skyped about birds. We all saw a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. It weighs a much as a loonie. Can you believe it only weighs as much as a loonie? We saw a Saw-Whet Owl. It is black with white spots. The owl only moves his head, but not their eyes. Their heads are sort of shaped like a heart. Their wings are brown with white lines. Northern Saw-Whet Owls are the smallest eastern North American birds. The Fox Sparrow has yellow under his beck. The Fox Sparrow is black with white under the bottom. The eggs are grayish with black spots. Their eggs are also red. Can you believe their eggs can be red? Their feet are sort of orange. The Fox Sparrow is fuzzy like a fox. They caught four birds one was a Ruby Crowned Kinglet, Fox Sparrow, Yellow Rumped Warbler , and a Saw-Whet Owl. The biologists said the birds need bands to help them be tracked in the wild. My favourite part was when they banded the birds.

Today I had a lot of fun because we Skyped about birds. The biologists knew a great deal about birds and were kind to the birds. The birds were very beautiful and it would be great if we could Skype with them again. We learned a lot about birds. We got to see an owl. The owl was a Saw -Whet Owl. If you find a baby owl you will notice that it will never have a loud hoot, hoot. I also saw a bird called a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. I have never seen a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. The Ruby Crowned Kinglet weighs as much as a loonie. Another bird was called the Fox Sparrow. It does look like a furry fox. The Fox Sparrow is very beautiful. I have never seen a Fox Sparrow. The Fox Sparrow has a gray head and brown wings. It enjoys seeds and has a thick bill. It is really fun to learn about birds. They are really adorable! Another bird is the Yellow Rumped Warbler. We got to see them release the birds. I hope that I get to do the same thing when I grow up. It was funny to watch them weigh the birds, because they put them into the scale backwards so they do not fly away.

We Skyped with Bird Studies Canada in Ontario. We studied different kinds of birds like the Ruby Crowned Kinglet. It was pretty cool because it had a red spot on its’ head, so that means it is a male. It also weighs about 7 grams. That is how much a loonie weighs!
We also studied the Fox Sparrow. It was very fuzzy like a fox. The Fox Sparrow had a tiny gray head and brown wings. The Fox Sparrow enjoys eating seeds and this is why it has a thick bill to crack the seeds open.
We had surprise bird visitor!! It was a Saw-Whet Owl!!!!!!!!! It was a tiny owl, white catlike face, large head with yellow eyes. The owl makes a high pitched coo, coo sound.
We also saw a Yellow Rumped Warbler with a black and yellow rump on its tail. The Yellow Rumped Warbler enjoy berries.
The biologists band the bird with a plastic ring. They take the tong, put the ring around the birds feet. The biologists clip it on the birds feet and that is how they know that they are banded there. They weigh them in a black container upside down, so that they cannot fly away. After they weigh the birds, they are put in a box. After they are weighed the biologists release the birds into the wild. My favourite bird was the Saw-Whet Owl because we saw it up close!
