I like how you used other words to describe the Christmas present such as, “surprise present, special present, and celebration in box.” This was a great use of synonyms. Your mystery story followed a logical sequence of events in order to solve the case of the missing Christmas present. I wonder why such an important present would be in the bathroom by the stinky garbage? I like how you added the summer about your story at the end, just like a real book.
