We hope you enjoy our geometry video.   We took pictures of real world shapes, used the app called, “Symmetry Lab,” to create symmetrical designs, used K’Nex to build 2-D, 3-D, and symmetrical designs, and used geoboards and elastics to create symmetrical designs.

This is our first iMovie ever!  We learned it is important to take clear pictures, how to insert pictures into an iMovie, and use the app called, “Photo Editor,” to add text to our pictures.

We hope you enjoy our iMovie!

Dear Veteran, Thank you for fighting in the war. We are now free because of you and your friends. Many people died, but you saved us You went through a lot of pain and a lot of your friends died.  Thank you for fighting in the war and for saving us. John Mc Crae wrote a poem called “In Flanders Fields” and he was born in Guelph Ontario in 1872. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is in Ottawa. That is where they laid to rest  the unknown soldier. We  wear a poppy on Remembrance Day because we respect the soldiers who died.  We take a moment of silence , on the eleventh day, on the eleventh hour because that is when the World War 1 ended. The National War Memorial in Ottawa was built in memory of the soldiers who died. The Peace Tower  has fifty-three bells on it and is often heard on special days.  The Book of Remembrance has every Canadian soldier that fought in the war in it and it is in a room in the Peace Tower called the Memorial Chamber.

We sang, “Just One Candle” for our Remembrance Day concert. We made clay poppies for  Remembrance  Day in our class.   We cut out some poppies and made a wreath of poppies for our Remembrance Day Assembly and some other classes made crosses.  We read a story called, “A Poppy is to Remember.” We are writing letters to the veterans. We read a Remembrance Day book and then we answered Remembrance Day questions.  We listened to “Reveille” and to “Pittance of Time”.   Thank you for serving our country.

Yours Truly,

Dear Veteran,

Thank you for saving our country.  Thank you for fighting for peace and freedom.  I wear a poppy on Remembrance Day to show I appreciate what you have done for us.  There are statutes of twenty-five soldiers found on the National War Memorial in Ottawa to remember those that died in the war.  We wear poppies on Remembrance Day to show we care for the soldiers who died in the war.  I feel sorry for the soldiers who died in the war.

A  long time  ago people came to the door and said you have to come and help fight in the war.  John  Mc Crae, who was a soldier, had a friend  that died in the war and wrote a poem called, “ In Flanders Fields.”   We learned the Peace Tower has fifty-three bells on it and is found in Ottawa.  The bells are rung  on Remembrance Day.

We had our Remembrance Day Assembly on Friday, November  7th.  We sang a song called, “Just One Candle.”  Most of the classes performed a song.   We made a picture frame poppy with plasticine . We also listened to a song called,  “ A Pittance of Time.”   It was about a girl standing beside her dad discussing why we have Remembrance Day. My favourite song at the Remembrance Day Assembly was our Grade Four class because the lights were off when we were holding our battery operated candles for the song called, “Just One Candle.”   Thank you for what you have done for us.

Dear Veteran ,

Thank you for keeping our country safe. I really appreciate what you have done for us.  I also thank you for keeping peace and freedom for our country.  I wear a poppy on Remembrance Day to remember the soldiers who died in war.  I also appreciate how you fought to save our lives.

I  have learned that long ago soldiers came to peoples doors and said they had to come to war.  I also learned that  poppies  were made of red  cloth  and black centres.  John McCrae who was a soldier wrote a  poem called in, “Flanders Fields. ”   He wrote the poem in memory of his friend who died in war.   We wear a poppy  over  our heart to remember the soldiers who died in war. We learned that  the  Peace  Tower in Ottowa  has a Memorial  Chamber  that  holds the Book  of  Rememberance. Each page of each book is turned once a year on the same date each year.  World War 1 came to an end at  11:00 on November  11th  in 1918.

Our  Rememberance Day  concert  was on November 7th  and  we sang, ” Just  One Candle.”  We  made clay poppies  for Rememberance Day.  At the Rememberance Day Assembly a lady from the Legion read a long poem.   I enjoyed the performance of the grade 7’s playing the drums.    I will always remember what  you have done  for us.

Dear Veteran,

Thank you for fighting in the war to save our lives. I really appreciate the peace and freedom we have on earth. We wear a poppy over our heart to show that we remember all the soldiers who died in the wars. Our Remembrance Day assembly is coming up and we are singing,, “Just One Candle”. Thank you for serving our country.

I learned that long ago soldiers had to go to war even if they didn’t want to. I also learned about the Peace Tower in Ottawa. The Peace Tower has 53 bells on it. It also has interesting symbols around it. The Tower stands 90.6 meters high and was built in honour of the soldiers in World War 1.

In class, we are making a poppy made from clay. After we are done we will put the poppy in a picture frame. In reading groups we are writing a letter to a veteran. I learned that World War 1 ended at 11:00 on November 11th in 1918. That is why at 11:00 we bow our heads for two minutes of silence. I really enjoyed the grade one performance because they sang a song called, “Do You Know Where I Find Peace.”

In Charge of the World

If I were in charge of the world

I’d cancel hard work, mosquitoes,

stress, and also snow.

 mosquitoes

If I were in charge of the world

There’d be brighter night lights,

nicer people, and, healthier animals.

If I were in charge of the world

You wouldn’t have horror movies.

You wouldn’t have dentist appointments.

You wouldn’t have disappointed teachers.

Or ” be jealous.”

If I were in charge of the world

A rainbow coloured lollipop would be a

Vegetable.

lollipop

All shoes would be for free,

And a person who sometimes is very mean,

And sometimes is very keen,

Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world!
