Our Grade Four Class Blog The Case of the Curious Classroom 

This is the paint roller snowman I made in Art class.  I hope you like him!  I hope you enjoy my story!

 

 

At 7:30 AM Jake looked out the window, but it was snowing. Jake put on his warm socks, pants, and his warm hat. Jake put on his coat, snow pants and lastly his scarf, and boots. Jake went outside and decided to make a snowman. First Jake made the large snowball, then the middle snowball, and lastly Jake made the small snowball for the head. After Jake built the snowman he went inside to get a carrot for his nose, two round chocolates for his eyes, and five round stones for his mouth. Jake decides to go inside to warm up after he put the final touches on his snowman. Jake thought he saw something moving as he headed back to the house to have some hot chocolate with marshmallows.

After his hot chocolate Jake went outside, but the snowman wasn’t there. Jake looked all around. He saw a snowman dancing all around his backyard.  

Jake was shocked but quickly went to the garage to get his sled.  Jake exclaimed to the snowman, “Want to go sledding?” “Yes I would love to,” exclaimed the snowman.” I’m going to call you Snowyow.” “Is that alright?” asked Jake.  “What a creative name,” replied Snowyow.  Jake and Snowyow had a great deal of fun having sled races, even though Snowyow thought it was a bumpy ride on the hills.

After sledding, Jake and Snowyow made a snow fort.   They made sure it was just the right size for Jake and Snowyow.   After they finished the snow fort they had a very big snowball fight. The snowball fight was Jake’s favourite thing he had done with Snowyow.

After the snowball fight it was time to have a rest.  Jake made some  cold hot chocolate and brought out some cookies for Snowyow and himself.  Snowyow exclaimed to Jake, “Thank you so much. What a great idea to have cold hot chocolate so I don’t melt!” 

The next morning Jake looked out the window and noticed that the sun was shining brightly.  Jake ran downstairs as fast as he could, that he almost tripped. Jake ran to the door and opened the door so fast that the napkins on the breakfast table went all over the kitchen.   When Jake opened the door he saw Snowyow had melted.  He sadly went inside.  Jake couldn’t wait until the next snowfall.

This is the roller paint snowman I made in Art class.  I hope you like it!  I hope you enjoy my snowman story!

It was a snowy day. It was snowing and snowing. There was no school because it was too icy for the buses to travel on. Corny wanted to go outside, but he couldn’t because it was snowing. Corny was bored. Finally in the afternoon it stopped snowing. Corny put on his grey snow pants, blue coat, red mittens, and black snow boots on.  Corny went outside to play in the snow.

Corny made a snowball and threw it against the fence. He made another snowball.  He rolled the snowball bigger and bigger until it was above his knee.  He started another snowball a little bit smaller and finally made a smaller snowball. Corny stacked the snowballs together.

Corny went inside to get eight buttons out of the dresser. Corny got a carrot out of the fridge. Corny ran outside to decorate the snowman. Corny stuck the carrot in the top ball and two buttons over the carrot for the eyes. Corny placed the 6 buttons in the second ball for the buttons.  He backed up and looked at his snowman. He thought his snowman looked quite nice.

Corny went inside for a snack. When he was eating his snack he heard a voice squeak, “Don’t leave me alone.” Corny wondered where the noise coming from. He quickly finished his snack and went outside. He saw the snowman he had built was dancing around and singing. Corny asked the snowman, “Are you really talking?” The snowman answered, “Yes.” The snowman remarked, “Let’s have some fun.

Corny and the snowman made a snow fort and went to get some snow to make snow balls to have a snowball fight. Corny and the snowman had a lot of fun with the snowball fight. 

Corny asked the snowman, “Let’s play freeze tag.” Freeze tag was easy for Corny to catch the snowman because the snowman was slow.

After freeze tag they got a sled out of the shed and ran up the big hill. When they went down the hill you could hear shouts of, “WWAAHHHHOOOOOOOO.” Corny and the snowman were so tired and sleepy at the end of the day, they went right to sleep without eating supper.

The next morning. Corny had to go to school.  He was worried because the sun was shining brightly and Corny thought his snowman might melt. When Corny came back from school there was only a puddle of water.

It was a chilly winter day in Edmonton.  Gerhard was bored.  He looked out the window deciding what he could do.  He had an idea.   He would build a snowman.   Gerhard put on his black boobts, black snowpants, blue coat, and a yellow toque.  Gerhard was ready to go outside.  When he got outside he began to build a big ball for the bottom of the snowman, then he made a smaller ball for the middle, and finally rolled the small ball for the head.  He went back inside to get a carrot, scarf, toque, mittens, and two sticks for the arms.  When he finished the final touches he noticed that the snowman began to smile.   The snowman replied, “Hi!’’ Gerhard replied, “Hell-oo-oo,’’ to the snowman.  “My name is Nick and I’m a friendly snowman,” replied Gerhard’s new friend.  Gerhard went back inside to get a snack.  Gerhard came back out with chocolate chip cookies and ice cold milk, so Nick would not melt. After their snack they went outside to have a snowball fight.  No one won!  It was just great fun!

After the snowball fight, Gerhard and Nick  decided to go skating on the pond located behind Gerhard’s backyard.  Gerhard went inside to find his skates and some for Nick.  As soon as Nick stepped on the ice, it cracked a little because Nick was heavy.  Gerhard replied, “Maybe this is not a great idea.  Let’s go back home to play some snow games.”  They walked back  home and found a blue and yellow sled  from the garage.  Gerhard and Nick climbed up a very, very, very steep and icy hill  located by the pond.  You could here the shouts of , “Waaahhhhhoooooooooo!!!!!!” as they slid down the hill.

Nick and Gerhard walked to the pet store in Edmonton.   There were cute and cuddly kittens at the pet store.  Nick wanted to pet them. Gerhard replied, “Look at those cute puppies too.”   Nick and Gerhard spent some time petting and playing with the kittens and puppies. 

After the pet store they walked back to the park.  Gehard asked Nick if he he wanted  to play grounders. “Yes, yes!”  he responded. Nick and Gerhard played for a while then a coupl of other kids came and announced, “Can we play to?” “Yes Gerhard,” commented.  All of them played grounders for an hour.  Gehard and Nicky went home.

The next morning it was getting warmer.  Gerhard went outside to visit Nick.  Gerhard tried to talk and get him play a game, but it seemed Nick was not excited.  He did have enough energy to play a game. Gerhard realized his snowman was beginning to melt. 

The following day it was even warmer and Gerhard had to go to school.  Gerhard looked outside and noticed his snowman was slumpig and getting smaller.  When Gerhard came home from school he ran quickly to the backyard, but Nick had melted into a large puddle of water.

One wintery day my family and I were going to the mountains. My dad and I got everything out of the van. We wanted to go skiing so we made sure we dressed warmly.  We put on our hats, mittens, jackets, sweaters, snow pants, and boots on.   It took us half an hour to reach the ski hill.  When we arrived, we started skiing down the mountain.   “WAAHOOOOO!” could be heard throughout the ski hill.

After a while, I was cold from skiing and decided I would make a snowman. I went to the van to warm up. When I warmed up, I went back outside to make my snowman. I put the objects to make the snowman on the front of the van. I made a snowball and rolled it until I couldn’t roll it anymore. Then I started rolling the second one.   When I was done the second one, I started rolling the last one.  Then I put the nose, buttons, arms, eyes, and the mouth on.

Suddenly the snowman laughed.  It was hard for Junior the snowman to climb the mountain because he had no legs, but he made it. Once we were both on the mountain we started to ski down the mountain. “I’m getting tired,” Junior replied. “Okay! I have to go to the tent and go to sleep.  Bye! See you tomorrow,” I replied.

 The next morning I woke up and I went to visit the snowman. He was on top of the mountain waiting for me to play. So I called Junior’s name lots of times. He heard it the last time.  He came down and we played a long game of hide and go seek. Two hours later we had to go home. When we got home we went to bed.

One cold winter day Jake was bored.  He did not know what to do. Then Jake had a great idea. Jake ran to the closet got his snowpants, coat, toque, and mittens on. Jake was very excited.  He was going to the park to build . Jake ran as fast as he could to get to the park. Jake made a snowman. He just made a snowball and rolled it until it a  snowmanwas a huge snowball. Then he made the second biggest snowball. Then he made the smallest snowball.   Jake stacked the snowballs. Jake realized he forgot to bring supplies to put on the snowman.  Jake quickly ran home to get coal for the eyes and mouth, and a carrot for the nose. When he came back the snowman was still there. Jake stuck the nose in the middle and the five pieces of coal for the mouth and eyes. Jake looked around for some sticks for his snowman. Jake looked back at his snowman.   To Jakes’ surprise his snowman was dancing around.

Jake replied, “Come on let’s go home and have a snowball fight. After the snowball fight they built a tunnel out of snow with a bed that the snowman could sleep on. Jake decided to give his snowman name. “Is it alright if I name you Pete,” asked Jake. “Yes,” replied  Pete.  “Good night,” replied Jake. The snowman replied, “Good night as well.” The next morning Jake woke up early because he had to go to the eye doctor. When he came back his snowman had melted away because the sun had come out. Jake was sad but he could build another snowman when it snowed again.

One cold morning Nella went outside to the backyard.   As soon as Nella was in the
backyard she rolled three different sized snowballs and put them on top of each other.   Nella went into the house and got a carrot, different types of buttons, scarf and a hat. When Nella had everything she needed she went back into the backyard.  Nella placed the carrot on the snow woman for the nose, the buttons on the middle sized snow woman, and wrapped the scarf around the snow woman’s neck. Lastly, Nella placed the black hat on thesnow woman’s head.  Nella named the snow woman Eva. After Nella finished the snow woman she took a step back and thought the snow woman looked great and happy.

Nella went inside and had some lunch. Soon Nella heard a voice calling, “Hey I’m lonely!”  “Could someone please come and play with me?” Eva remarked “I’ll play with you as soon as I’m done eating my lunch!” Nella called.  “Okay, “Eva replied. As soon as Nella was done she went outside to play with the snow woman. When Nella got to the spot she had built her snow woman she wasn’t there. Nella looked all around.  She saw Eva by a pile of snow and asked, “What are you doing?”  “Oh I’m building a snow fort,” announced Eva.  “Can I help you with making the fort?” Nella commanded. “Sure,” Eva remarked. Eva and Nella worked hard to finish the fort.  They went inside and made a table and two chairs for them two sit on to have a snack. Nella went inside to get two snack bars for their snack. 

When they finished their snack Eva asked, “Do you want to have a snowball fight?  We can pick a different tree to hide behind?” “Sure as soon as I put the dishes back in the house from our snack,” Nella responded. When they both were at a different tree, Nella and Eva both picked up some snow and rolled it into a ball and threw it at each other. When they were tired, they stopped having their snowball fight.

After, Nella went to the shed and got two shovels for them to make another snow pile and slide down the hill.  They tried to get all of the bumps out of the pile. Soon Nella looked at the sky and remarked, “I better go to bed because it’s getting dark and I have to go to school tomorrow.” “Okay,” Eva replied. So Nella went inside, but before she did she gave Eva a hug. Then she went inside and went into her warm and cozy bed and fell asleep. While she was asleep she had a dream about what Eva and she would do the next day!

This is my paint roller snowman that I made in Art class! I also wrote a story about a snowman coming to life.   I hope you enjoy it.

One chilly winter day I had an idea to build a snowman. I saw the snow had piled up from the last snowfall. I ran outside and started to roll a snowball in my backyard. I rolled and rolled till I had a huge ball.  I could not move it so I had to leave it where it was. I made another snowball for the middle and a small snowball for the head.   I went inside to get some blue buttons, mittens, hat, and a carrot for the nose. I placed the finishing touches on my snowman.  I was sure when I looked at the snowman he waved at me. I waved back nervously.  I did not know if it was my brother behind the snowman playing a trick on me or the snowman actually did wave.

I heard my mom calling me to come inside because I was outside for several hours. I went inside I told my mom I was sure the snowman I built waved at me.  My mom did not believe me and exclaimed, “That only happens in fictional books.” While I was eating my lunch. The snowman came to window and waved at me again. I stared at him for a minute and turned around to look at my mom to make sure she didn’t see me waving at the snowman. I hurriedly finished my lunch and told my mom I was going back outside to make a snow fort.

The snowman was waiting for me. I named the snowman Judy. We talked about what we would do today.   I was glad that it was the weekend.  We decided to make a snow fort right beside Judy. We made the snow fort big enough for Judy to fit in.  The snow fort could be Judy’s house. So we spent several hours making the snow fort. When I asked Judy to test out her snow fort Judy exclaimed, “I fit.  I can’t wait to sleep in my snow fort tonight.”

We thought about what we wanted to do. Finally Judy thought about sledding. “Sure,” I replied.   I went into the shed to get the sleds. We went to the park because there was a big hill there. We had great fun sledding down the bumpy hills.  When we came home it was time for me to go inside because it was getting dark and I had to go to school the next day.  When I came home from school, I went to play with Judy but she had melted because a Chinook had blown  in.

One snowy winter Herman was bored and there was no school because it was a snow day. He thought and he thought what to do. Finally he had an idea. He decided to build a snowman. He went outside and made three different sized snowballs. One was large, one was medium, and one was small. Herman put all of the snowballs on top of each other. He went inside and found a carrot for his nose, buttons, hat, and scarf.  He went back outside and found two sticks for the arms. Herman put all of the pieces on the snowman. As he put the last item on to the snowman the hat, “POOF,” the snowman came to life.

Herman was surprised because he had never believed the story of a snowman coming to life. Herman called the snowman Henry. Henry replied, “Let’s play freeze tag.” Herman and Henry went to the backyard and Henry was it for freeze tag. Henry ran as fast as he could, finally Henry caught Herman.  Herman ran after Henry.

After a while Henry and Herman felt like playing a different game so they plunked down on the snow to decide what game they should play. Herman replied, “I know what game we should play.  Let’s have a snowball fight. Herman and Henry made a fort to protect them they made some snowballs and threw them at each other. When they ran out of snowballs they made more and kept throwing snowballs.

Soon both got tired of having a snowball fight, Henry suggested going to the park to play grounders. Herman thought that was a great idea and the park was a great place to play.

They raced to the park.  Herman beat Henry to the park.  Henry and Herman played grounders.  This time Henry was it.  Henry ran after Herman but Henry was not as fast as Herman because he had a big ball for legs.

Henry and Herman wanted to do something else so they thought about what to play. Herman replied, “I know what we should do. We should climb up a tall hill and slide off of it.” Henry replied, “Yeah let’s go.”  So they found a big hill and climbed up it.  When they got on top of the hill Henry replied, “You go first Herman.” “Okay,” replied Herman.  So Herman slid down the hill and when he got to the bottom of the hill he screamed to Henry, “Now you go!”  “Okay,” replied Henry. So Henry slid down and screamed, “WAAHOOOOOOOOOO.” Henry flew in the air with glee and happiness. When he got to the ground Henry replied, “That was awsesome.”

Herman wanted to go home, but Henry replied, “Sorry I can’t. I have to go back to my family.” Herman replied, “I understand. Well I better get going,” Henry replied. “Wait,” Herman replied, “Can we just play one more game of toilet tag.” Henry replied, “Okay.”  Herman was it and tried to tag Henry. Whoever was caught first they would be out of the game. Herman finally creplied, “Good bye.” Herman replied, “Good bye.  aught Henry and he was out. Henry replied, “Well it’s time for me to go.”  Henry It was great to play with you!”

One day a girl named Anna woke up and looked out the window.  She was excited because it snowed. Anna got out of bed. She got dressed and put her purple snow pants and purple coat on.  She quickly put on her purple boots.  Anna was ready to go outside and started making a huge snowball.  After that she made the second snowball and finally Anna made the last snowball. First she put the big snowball on the bottom, then the middle one and lastly the smallest one.  Anna finished making her snowman.  Anna went inside to get a carrot nose, two buttons for the eyes, a hat, and sticks.

When Anna put the final touches on her snowman named Christina, she heard a voice say, “Hi.” It was Christina.“Let’s go skating,” Anna declared. Christina was so chubby that she kept falling down.  Christina got up and practiced for a bit and she could skate better. Anna and Christina skated around in  circles, raced and danced. “Let’s skate around for a bit more before we go back to my house,” Anna commented. 

When they arrived back to the house Anna and Christina had ice cold cocoa and cookies to eat. The cookies are in the freezer so Anna had to warm them up so they were not too frozen.  The cookies and the ice cold coca were so delicious. “Let’s have more ice cold cocoa and cookies before we go have a snowball fight,”remarked Anna. “Yes please”, replied Christina. “Then I will have more too”, replied Anna. “Ready to go have a snow ball fight?” “Yes”, replied Christina. “First, I’ll make a shield”, replied Anna “Okay”, replied Christina. “Then I’ll to make a shield too,” replied Christina.  “Ready?” asked Anna to Christina.  “Yes,” replied Christina.“I got you.” replied Anna.  “This time I will get you,” replied Christina. “Okay,” replied Anna.  “Well it is getting dark so I will go in inside,” replied Anna. “Okay”, replied Christina.  “Goodbye,” exclaimed Anna.

It was a warm Monday morning and Anna had to go to school.  When school was over Anna went inside and had a snack. Anna looked out the window.   Her snowman had melted away.  She was sad.
